ANOTHER GREAT RUN

Elves from Santa's Stables and the Department of Elfland Security report that Santa had another great run this year. Santa arrived back at the North Pole only 8 minutes off schedule this year, beating the 20 minute descrepency from last year. He reported that he almost had some bad weather over Ireland again, but we re-routed a bit to avoid the storm.

Santa believes that if there was some kind of tracking system that could be created that would alert him in advance about poor weather conditions, that he would be able to change up his flight route and avoid issues during the flight. He plans on discussing his ideas with the research and devlopment team to see if something can be developed and deployed before next year's run.

From the Department of Elfland Security

Edward Hicklemyer has released a statement to all of the workshop elves congradulating them on a very efficient year. He also stated that he has adjusted the work schedule for next season to allow for additional time off. The new schedules will be sent out by mail through the post office. The first day of work at the workshop has been changed to January 15, 1923. He ended his message with, "Enjoy your time off and have some fun, you deserve it!".

New Commerce Association Being Considered

It has been almot 50 years now since the disolution of the North Pole City Commerce Association, but there has been some talk amoungst the business owners about getting together and forming a new group. The previoius group was in existance for almost 500 years, but was broken up with the president of the group decided to resign, close his business, and go back to work in one of Santa's workshops. Nobody wanted to take over his position and the minutes from the last meeting showed a unanimous vote to disovle the group. This new group plans on having a 5 member board to help organize and facilitate the group. We will report more information as it developes.

Expansion of North Pole City Sports League Being Considered

This has been some discussion of expanding the North Pole City Sports League to have some additional sporting events for Winter and Fall. The only issue with this is running into the time schedules with Santa's workshop; however, with the population of North Pole City growing each year, it may be possible to look into other sporting events. A few individuals are planning on going with members from the North Pole City Sports League to City Council to have some talks about adding additional sporting seasons.

SANTA INVITES ALL LEGENDARY FIGURES TO NORTH POLE CITY: Santa is postponing his vacation with Mrs. Claus this year for a week as he has invited all of the Legendary Figures up to North Pole City for an Assembly Meeting. We do not know the details of the topics that will be discussed; however, we do know that they will start arriving this week.

North Pole City Weather

A winter storm will be moving in the end of next week. It is reported that we will be seeing some signifigant snow accumulations through the city and may have a few days with some high winds as well. Tempratures will be in the teens for the high and negative single digits for the low.

Santa Gets a New Toy

Santa Gets a New Toy

Santa and Mrs. Claus were surprised last week to recieve a new toy from manufacturer Henry Ford. A message was intercepted by the Department of Elfland Security to pick up a crate in Golden Heart City, Alaska that was coming in by rail and was being sent express shipment to Santa Claus. Once the crate arrived in town, it was opened to reveal a brand new red Model T Ford. There was a note attached to the steering wheel that read, "Thank you sir for all that you do. Merry Christmas - HF".

Elf History - The Christmas Truce of 1914

Elf History - The Christmas Truce of 1914

On December 25, 1914, just after midnight on Christmas morning, the majority of German troops engaged in World War I cease firing their guns and artillery and commence to sing Christmas carols. At certain points along the eastern and western fronts, the soldiers of Russia, France, and Britain even heard brass bands joining the Germans in their joyous singing. At the first light of dawn, many of the German soldiers emerged from their trenches and approached the Allied lines across no-man's-land, calling out "Merry Christmas" in their enemies' native tongues. At first, the Allied soldiers feared it was a trick, but seeing the Germans unarmed they climbed out of their trenches and shook hands with the enemy soldiers. The men exchanged presents of cigarettes and plum puddings and sang carols and songs. There was even a documented case of soldiers from opposing sides playing a good-natured game of soccer. The so-called Christmas Truce of 1914 came only five months after the outbreak of war in Europe and was one of the last examples of the outdated notion of chivalry between enemies in warfare. In 1915, the bloody conflict of World War I erupted in all its technological fury, and the concept of another Christmas Truce became unthinkable.
